Clutch was going out so over the weekend i dropped the tranny and put a new clutch in it. No big deal. Finish it all up last night and went to start it and.... nothing. Only 2 wires going to the starter so i didnt screw those up. Now, push in the clutch and nothing happens when you turn it to start except the cooling fan starts. Beat on it with a hammer... nothing. Try to jump start it with a screwdriver and nothing. I plug in the battary charger and run one side to the hot side (the nut under the little black boot) and the other to the small single wire term on the starter and you can hear the bendix pop out but it wont engage the motor. When voltage is applied in one direction, the actuator becomes an electromagnet and draws a steel rod into the solenoid. Reversing the polarity reverses the direction of the magnetic field, forcing the steel rod out of the actuator. The actuator rod is attached to the lock mechanism, locking the door in one direction and unlocking it in the other direction. Test these actuators in both directions to eliminate mistakes in diagnosis. Pull up and away from the door to release the plastic clips that hold the door panel to the door. Do not unplug the electrical connectors at this time. 2 Unplug the door lock actuator electrical connector. The actuator is located inside the door near the lock mechanism. 3 Test the switch with your automotive circuit tester. Attach the circuit tester's power leads to the battery, then touch the terminals of the wiring harness electrical connector while depressing the door lock switch. When pressed in the lock direction, the terminals should show power on one and ground on the other. When pressed in the un-lock direction the positions of power and ground should reverse. If this doesn't occur, replace the switch. 4 Plug the electrical connector back into the actuator and test each terminal from the back side of the connector. Both wires should show power when the switch is activated in either direction. If one terminal shows power and the other shows ground when the switch is activated, this indicates an open circuit in the actuator. Replace the actuator to repair.

Pull the door panel off the frame by prying up on the edges of the panel with the tool and then grabbing the panel with your hand and pulling as you work the tool around the edges of the door panel. 4 Pull the cotter pin that holds the latch bar to the the handle actuator out of the bracket that holds these components together and move the latch bar to the side. 5 Remove the retaining clips on the inner and outer door handle. 6 Remove the electrical plug running to the electric door lock actuator. 7 Pull the door lock actuator and handle assembly off the inside door panel. 8 Install the new door lock actuator and handle assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
